Rebecca Jackson is the Director for the Center for Women’s Health, founding Director of the Ohio State University Center for Clinical and Translational Science, Associate Dean for Clinical and Translational Research, and Professor of Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism at The Ohio State University.

Her research is concentrated in the area of women’s health, with a specific focus on defining clinical factors, biomarkers, and genetic associations for diseases that disproportionately affect women—including osteoporotic fractures and osteoarthritis, as well as characterizing the effects of environmental factors—including physical activity, dietary factors, and medication exposure (e.g., postmenopausal estrogen or calcium plus vitamin D) that modify disease risk. Her laboratory has had continuous NIH funding for almost 30 years and she has authored or co-authored more than 250 peer-reviewed manuscripts, including the landmark Women’s Health Initiative Calcium Plus Vitamin D Trial.

Dr. Jackson has served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Clinical Research Forum, past Chair of the Steering Committee of the Women’s Health Initiative and the CTSA consortium, past President for the Association of Clinical and Translational Science, and past member of the NIH Advisory Board for Clinical Research. She has been the recipient of numerous awards, including the Kellogg National Fellowship, the Ohio Women’s Hall of Fame, the AACR Team Science Award, and the Barry Coller Distinguished Service Award from ACTS. In 2008, she was elected as a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, and in 2015, she received the OSU Distinguished Scholar Award, one of the university’s highest research honors.
